Alex Dunne Emerging as Formula 2’s Most Aggressive Overtaker

Formula NXT | F2

Alex Dunne’s rookie Formula 2 campaign continues gaining momentum as the Irish driver rapidly builds a reputation for fearless overtaking and aggressive racecraft throughout the 2026 season.

The Rodin Motorsport driver once again delivered one of the standout drives of the weekend after carving through the field during the Miami Sprint Race, consistently placing himself in battles for podium positions despite difficult tire conditions and multiple safety car interruptions.

While many rookies struggle adapting to the tire management and strategic complexity of Formula 2 machinery, Dunne has shown little hesitation attacking experienced competitors wheel-to-wheel.

That confidence is beginning to attract major attention throughout the paddock.

The modern Formula 2 grid is arguably the deepest talent pool outside Formula 1 itself, making immediate impact performances increasingly difficult for young drivers entering the category. Yet Dunne’s aggressive style and visible confidence under pressure have quickly elevated him into one of the most talked-about drivers on the grid.

Questions still remain regarding long-run consistency and tire preservation over full Feature Race distances, but few drivers currently appear more comfortable attacking in chaotic racing conditions.

For Formula 1 academies monitoring future opportunities, Dunne’s ceiling appears extremely high.

And if his current trajectory continues, the Irish driver may soon become one of the hottest names in the Formula 2 driver market.
